Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Plus standby and overtime opportunities, increasing earnings by a potential £8,000 - £10,000 upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Up to £39,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Standby rota payments and overtime can increase earning potential by up to a further £8,000 - £10,000 per annum after training completion.
About the Role
We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at Crossness STW. Your role will be to ensure all equipment at the waste treatment works is safe to use and running efficiently by applying proactive and reactive maintenance methods to keep the site operational.
- Investigate plant failures and perform repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults and repairing during incidents.
- Provide technical advice, maintain up-to-date technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees as required.
- Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors, centrifuges, various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
- Complete statutory checks as required.
- Always work safely and comply with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.
All necessary PPE, tools, and a company van for duty and on-call work will be provided.
Experience
Experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or similar environment is preferred to effectively investigate and repair plant failures.
About you
- Physically fit to work in confined spaces following appropriate training.
- Strong awareness and knowledge of health and safety issues.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and commitment.
- Hold a valid driving licence as company vehicle and tools are provided.
Qualifications
- ONC/HNC in Engineering, NVQ, or City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering is essential.
