Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Standby and overtime opportunities available, potentially increasing earnings by £8,000 - £10,000 upon completion of essential company training.

Salary
Up to £39,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Additional earnings possible through standby rota payments and overtime.

About the Role
We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at Crossness STW. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure all equipment at the waste treatment works is safe and running efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods to keep the site operational.
- Investigate plant failures and perform repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults and repairing during incidents.
- Provide technical advice, maintain up-to-date technical knowledge, and offer training or support to technical trainees as required.
- Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors, centrifuges, various pumps, associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
- Complete statutory checks as required.
- Always work safely and comply with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.
All necessary PPE, tools, and a company van will be provided when on duty and on call.

Requirements

Experience
Experience in mechanical engineering maintenance is essential, particularly in diagnosing and repairing plant equipment efficiently to minimise downtime.

About you
- Physically fit and able to work in confined spaces following appropriate training.
- Strong awareness of health and safety issues.
- Reliable and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A valid driving licence is essential as company vehicles and equipment will be provided.

Qualifications
- ONC/HNC in Engineering, NVQ, or City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering is crucial.
