About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join Thames Water as a Metering Network Technician. In this role, you will ensure the effective maintenance and repair of district and zonal meters as well as critical pressure points, aiming to increase the reliability and availability of the reporting systems. Your typical day will involve travelling around your designated region, fixing and repairing meters and pressure points using fault diagnostic procedures and specialist test equipment.
- Carry out planned reactive maintenance on district/zonal meters and critical pressure points.
- Use current planning systems to review and retrieve activities for suitable maintenance.
- Use technical systems to diagnose underground failures accurately.
- Make technical decisions on work being carried out, considering network impact and customer effects.
- Collaborate with field teams and control functions to resolve complex flow and pressure issues.
- Maintain key material and equipment stocks, liaising with the Network Metering Team and management to ensure contingency stock availability to mitigate customer service impacts.

Experience
- Proven reliability, trustworthiness, and a proactive approach to daily tasks.
- Experience working with SCADA systems and programming equipment, with the ability to learn bespoke packages.
- Time served as an apprentice with significant electrical systems experience in a multi-skilled capacity is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, BTEC or C&G Level 3 in electrical/electronic engineering is desirable.
- Electrical instrumentation experience, ideally with City and Guilds or equivalent qualifications.
- Previous experience in a similar role and within the electrical trade is highly advantageous, especially with instrument programming knowledge.
- Knowledge of the Road Traffic Management Act (NRSWA) is desirable; full training can be provided.
