About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join Thames Water as a Metering Network Technician. In this role, you will ensure the effective maintenance and repair of district and zonal meters as well as critical pressure points, aiming to increase the reliability and availability of the reporting systems. Your typical day will involve travelling around your designated region to fix and repair meters and pressure points using fault diagnostic procedures and specialist test equipment.
- Carry out planned reactive maintenance on district/zonal meters and critical pressure points.
- Use current planning systems to review and retrieve activities for suitable maintenance.
- Use technical systems to diagnose underground failures accurately.
- Make technical decisions considering network impact and effects on customers, both internal and external.
- Collaborate with field teams and control functions to resolve complex flow and pressure issues.
- Maintain key material and equipment stocks, liaising with the Network Metering Team and management to ensure contingency stock is available to mitigate impacts on customer service.

Experience
- Proven reliability, trustworthiness, and a proactive approach to daily tasks.
- Experience working with SCADA systems and programming equipment, with the ability to learn bespoke packages.
- Previous experience in a similar role or within the electrical trade is highly advantageous.
- Time served as an apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems and a multi-skilled capacity is highly desirable.
- Electrical instrumentation experience and qualifications such as City and Guilds or equivalent are desirable.
- Knowledge of the Road Traffic Management Act (NRSWA) is ideal, though full training can be provided.

Qualifications
- Full UK Driving Licence is required.
- Electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, BTEC or City & Guilds Level 3 in electrical/electronic engineering is desirable.
