Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, including a 6-week shift pattern with one week on standby covering emergencies out of hours (additional payment applies).
Salary
£29,000 to £40,000 per annum depending on skills and experience
About the Role
As a Network Engineer, you will be field-based and responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the wastewater network, including managing work carried out by contractors. You will lead emergency responses to pollution incidents, sewer flooding investigations, and burst rising mains, as well as oversee remedial work on complex issues such as sewer collapses and sinkholes. Planned activities include customer appointments, balancing pond inspections, and site audits.
Your key responsibilities will include leading field investigations of emergency wastewater network incidents, carrying out water quality inspections and sampling to assess sewage escapes, maintaining accurate records in corporate systems with site photos and investigation notes, and conducting health and safety inspections of balancing ponds and pipe bridges. You will proactively engage with communities to prevent complaints and minimise disruption, perform Health and Safety audits of contractors, sites, and internal teams, and ensure financial efficiency during daily network operations.

Experience
- Knowledge of pipe-laying and pipeline construction.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Full driving licence is essential.
- Good IT skills.

Qualifications
- Relevant technical qualification is desirable but not essential.
- Working knowledge of sewer networks, especially Health & Safety, is advantageous.
- NRSWA Signing, Lighting, and Guarding Unit 2 Operatives qualification is preferable.
