About the Role
When you see the world as we do, you see the chance to help the world take better care of its resources and help it become a better place for everyone. As an Operational Support Coordinator you’ll be pushing for innovative solutions to create a more sustainable future for all. You will support the Site Manager with daily landfill operations, coordinating activities across the tipping face, plant/contractors and traffic movements. Your responsibilities will include controlling waste reception and acceptance by checking documentation (including Certificates of Transfer of Control where required), confirming waste types, and ensuring compliant disposal routes. You will monitor site standards and contractor performance against agreed methods of work, carry out routine checks and escalate non-compliances. You will deliver and coordinate site inductions and toolbox talks, verify training and competence, and ensure correct controls are in place for tasks. Maintaining compliance with the Environmental Permit, Waste Acceptance procedures, Discharge Consent and relevant management plans (such as leachate and landfill gas) will be key. You will support Risk & Assurance performance by ensuring accidents, incidents and near misses are recorded on AVA and actions are tracked to close-out. Acting as, or working towards being, an Issuing Authority for Permits to Work, you will ensure isolations, RAMS and sign-offs are completed correctly. You will work with technical support teams including Surveying, Engineering, Aftercare and Gas to plan works, coordinate access and ensure work packs and records are completed. Preparing and maintaining site records, statutory logs and operational reports using business systems (including basic data handling in Excel) will be part of your role. You will also support internal and external audits, regulator visits (EA/HSE) and stakeholder/site visits, ensuring documentation and site readiness. Veolia offers 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, access to a company pension scheme, discounts on groceries and retailers, and resources to support your physical, mental and financial health. You will have 24-hour access to a virtual GP for you and your household, one paid day leave annually to volunteer, ongoing training and development opportunities, and for the right candidate, an opportunity to join our upskill programme and wider graduate network. We are committed to continuous development and supporting you to progress beyond your initial role.
Experience
Project management skills including planning, scheduling, action tracking and reporting. Experience working in environmental, engineering or related sectors is desirable but equivalent experience will be considered.
About you
Strong written and verbal communication skills for site records, briefings and stakeholder interactions. Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams and contractors. Motivated to support compliance and safety standards. Committed to continuous personal and professional development.
Qualifications
Degree (or near completion) in a relevant discipline such as environmental science, engineering or related field, or equivalent experience. GCSEs Grade 4/C+ (or equivalent) including Maths and English. Full UK driving licence.
