About the Role
Join AECOM as a Principal Environmental Consultant working on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) projects across the UK and Ireland. You will manage environmental inputs to large-scale infrastructure development projects that support the UK’s net zero commitments and deliver transformative infrastructure. Projects include energy generation (carbon capture, hydrogen, renewables), energy distribution and transmission, carbon capture pipelines, strategic rail projects, highway improvements, regeneration developments, and sectors such as ecommerce, minerals and waste, water, defence, aviation, commercial, residential, and industrial.

Key responsibilities include managing environmental inputs to EIA screening, scoping reports, Environmental Statements, and supporting documentation across all project stages from early strategy to construction and operation. You will work across multiple consenting regimes (DCO, TCPA, TWA, hybrid Bill) and ensure deliverables meet the highest quality standards. Your role involves project management, resource and budget oversight, collaboration with integrated design teams to identify environmental constraints and mitigation solutions, and client relationship management. You will also lead business development opportunities and promote AECOM’s environmental services.

As part of a national team of over 165 EIA specialists within AECOM’s Environment business, you will contribute to innovative projects delivered through long-term client partnerships. AECOM is committed to environmental, social and governance (ESG) priorities and is a founding member of the IEMA EIA Quality Mark.

About you
