About the Role
Join AECOM as a Principal Environmental Consultant working on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) projects across the UK and Ireland. You will manage environmental inputs to large-scale infrastructure development projects that support the UK’s net zero commitments and transform infrastructure. Projects include energy generation (carbon capture, hydrogen, renewables), energy distribution and transmission, carbon capture pipelines, strategic rail projects, highway improvements, regeneration developments, and sectors such as ecommerce, minerals and waste, water, defence, aviation, commercial, residential, and industrial.
Your responsibilities will include managing environmental inputs to EIA screening and scoping reports, environmental assessments/Environmental Statements, and supporting documents. You will be involved throughout all project stages from early strategy and site identification through to construction and operation. You will work across multiple consenting regimes including DCO, TCPA, TWA, and hybrid Bills.
You will ensure the highest quality standards in deliverables, manage resources and budgets effectively, collaborate with integrated design teams to improve environmental outcomes, manage client relationships and internal teams, and lead business development opportunities. This role offers the chance to work with a national team of over 165 environmental impact specialists and contribute to innovative, high-profile projects that create lasting positive impact.
Experience
Proven experience managing and coordinating multidisciplinary environmental inputs to infrastructure development projects. Strong knowledge of EIA, environmental assessment methods, planning legislation, and relevant consenting and licensing regimes. Experience with DCO and/or TWAO is advantageous. Demonstrated consultancy and project management skills including programming, resourcing, and budget management. Ability to coordinate specialist technical inputs effectively.

Qualifications
Degree in a relevant environmental discipline, preferably at Masters level, with appropriate professional membership. Chartered Environmentalist status is desirable. Interest in mentoring and line management is advantageous.
