About the Role
Join AECOM, the world’s trusted infrastructure consulting firm, and be part of a dynamic Water team delivering high-profile flood risk projects across the UK and beyond. As a Principal Flood Modeller, you will play a senior technical role, guiding junior staff and developing our flood modelling and water quality services for local authorities, water companies, and public and private sector clients. You will work with hydraulic modelling software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, Mike 11, Mike 21, HEC-RAS and ICM to support Flood Alleviation Schemes, Flood Risk Assessments, and reservoir flood studies. Your role will also include developing water quality models using industry-standard software, conceptualising modelling approaches, undertaking hydrological assessments, leading tenders, mentoring staff, and building strong client relationships. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver fluvial, coastal, surface water, and drainage flood risk management projects. Experience
Significant experience in hydraulic and water quality modelling software such as Mike, ICM, SIMCAT, Flood Modeller and/or TUFLOW. Demonstrable knowledge of Environment Agency requirements for flood risk assessments. Experience in conceptualising and scoping modelling approaches and undertaking hydrological assessments using Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2 and WINFAP. Proven ability to lead tenders and manage multimillion-pound framework contracts.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or a relevant discipline. Obtained or near to obtaining professional qualification with CIWEM or similar. Basic understanding of physico-chemical water quality and associated regulatory standards. Practical knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Anaconda or Ruby is advantageous.
