About the Role
Join AECOM’s Electrification & Power team as a Principal Rail Traction Power / Substation Engineer, delivering complex rail projects across the UK and internationally. You will be responsible for the technical and commercial delivery of traction power and high voltage substation projects throughout the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and outline design to detailed design and construction support. Acting as Discipline Lead or Contractor’s Responsible Engineer (CRE), you will ensure designs are accurate, cost-effective, constructable, and compliant with relevant codes and standards. Your role includes leading design packages, providing technical leadership and mentorship, liaising with clients and stakeholders, and supporting bid and proposal preparation. You will also undertake site visits and provide construction stage design support, maintaining a strong focus on Health & Safety and CDM compliance.

Experience
Significant experience in traction power and high voltage substation design. Proven track record acting as CRE / Lead Engineer. Experience delivering complex projects across feasibility, outline, and detailed design stages. Skilled in leading multidisciplinary coordination and overseeing design teams. Low voltage experience is desirable but not essential.
