About the Role
Join Thames Water as an Advanced Process Technician at our Clean Water site in Chingford. You will provide flexible cover to support existing operations teams based on resource needs and priorities. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to take the next step towards management and lead a team to success. You will have ownership of various project work, including writing working procedures and instructions, contributing to health and safety improvements, liaising with contractors, raising quotes, and introducing fresh ideas to improve processes.

Utilising your experience in water treatment works, you will lead key field-based activities and support the Performance Manager in managing and coordinating a team of technicians on site. You will also provide coaching and mentoring for team members, including apprentices and new starters, and assist with the delivery of the maintenance plan to promote first-time fixes.

Additional responsibilities include supporting the smooth running of the team by assisting with process risk assessments, obtaining quotes, site inductions, and reviewing RAMS. You will role model positive behavioural safety and site pride, promote a positive health and safety culture, and support colleagues in recognising and raising safety observations.

You will also step up to cover activities when the Performance Manager or Technical Coordinator is unavailable and participate in the out-of-hours standby rota. All PPE and tools are provided.

Requirements

Experience
- Hands-on operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment processes and plant.
- Experience in coaching or mentoring team members is beneficial.
- Proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements around the site.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact well with the team.
- IOSH trained or willingness to complete health and safety training.
- A valid driving licence is essential.

Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Operating Process Plant or working towards it.
- Management qualification or working towards it.
