About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Costain's growing Water department as a Senior Civil & Structural Engineer. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering projects across the Water Sector, covering a range of work from Concept Studies through to Detailed Design. Your role will involve providing civil and structural advice, analysis, calculations, reports, and specifications, taking technical responsibility for developing projects and sub-tasks. You will communicate designs effectively to BIM teams, other disciplines, construction personnel, and stakeholders. Occasional attendance for site visits, design reviews, and client meetings within clients’ offices will be required. You will also support and mentor junior team members and contribute to value engineering solutions. This hybrid role offers a balance of office-based work in Manchester and field engagement to ensure project success.

Experience
- Proven experience within the UK water industry at all stages of the project lifecycle
- Good knowledge of design working practices and installation requirements across a range of industries
- Extensive knowledge of UK legislation and standards
- Awareness of risk identification, quantification, management and HSE requirements
- Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (UK Citizen or 5 years UK residence)
- Experience of water industry standards and processes is desirable
- Experience working with multi-discipline teams and supporting junior engineers is desirable
- Knowledge and experience of common forms of contracts is desirable

About you
Client-facing with strong communication skills, able to mentor and develop graduates and less experienced engineers. You are proactive in delivering high-quality engineering deliverables on schedule and budget, with a commitment to compliance with national and international codes, legislation, and company/client standards. You are capable of providing technical guidance on water sector requirements, regulations, latest technologies, and industry best practice. You support project management in identifying change, progress reporting, and tracking issues, risks, and resolutions.

Qualifications
- Minimum BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Working towards Chartership or Incorporation with ICE or IStructE
- CSCS or CCNSG certification
- Additional technically focused qualifications or training are desirable
