About the Role
CMDP, a Joint Venture between Costain and MWHT, has been selected by Southern Water to deliver essential infrastructure solutions for its next AMP8 investment programme. This initial seven-year term contract is worth at least £500m to Costain, with an option to extend by up to five years. The strategic delivery partner framework will upgrade water and wastewater assets, including treatment sites, pumping stations, and reservoirs, during Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) and beyond. Southern Water expects AMP8, running from 2025 to 2030, to be its largest programme ever undertaken.
We are seeking a Construction Manager to join our growing team. Key responsibilities include developing the scheme Health, Safety and Environmental Management Plan (HASEMP), ensuring defect-free construction, managing the site team, and maintaining strong safety and environmental standards. You will ensure all works consider the needs of the local population and travelling public, supervise and mentor operatives, and promote cost-conscious management through efficient resource use.
You will prepare, review, and update realistic scheme programmes, method statements, and risk assessments, deliver site inductions and toolbox talks, and ensure all plant and equipment are fit for purpose and operated by trained personnel. Accurate records for measurement and payment will be maintained, and line management will be kept informed of potential issues and opportunities. You will also manage temporary coordination and ensure all "as constructed" records are provided timely for inclusion in the Health and Safety File following scheme completion.
