About the Role
SLR Consulting Limited is seeking experienced Senior Ecologists to join our highly successful Ecology team. This role offers flexibility to suit candidates with a focus on senior field ecology, report writing, project management, business development, or client management. Our ecology team of approximately 200 professionals across the UK and Ireland provides expert advice on ecological and environmental issues affecting a broad range of habitats and protected species. Licensed team members work with species such as great crested newts, bats, badgers, dormice, and reptiles. We maintain strong working relationships with Natural England, the Wildlife Trust, Natural Resources Wales, and Scottish Natural Heritage. The ecology team collaborates closely with planners, archaeologists, arboriculturists, landscape architects, and engineers within the firm.
Project work is varied, with a strong emphasis on renewable energy, infrastructure, residential schemes, and other commercial developments. Responsibilities include managing ecological projects according to experience, assisting team leads with resource allocation and financial budgets, addressing client feedback, and ensuring effective communication on all projects. You will produce and oversee ecological appraisals, reports, licence applications, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, EPS licences, and related documents. Mentoring junior team members and conducting or overseeing ecological surveys to ensure quality standards are met are key aspects of the role. You will also assist team leads in preparing fee proposals.
