About the Role
SLR Consulting Limited is seeking experienced Senior Ecologists to join our highly successful Ecology team. We welcome applications from senior field ecologists looking to build on proven report-writing skills and develop into project management roles. We are also open to more senior candidates with a focus on business development and client management, with the role adaptable to the right candidate.

Our ecology team of approximately 200 consultants across the UK and Ireland provides expert advice on ecological and environmental issues affecting a broad range of habitats and protected species. Licensed team members handle species such as great crested newts, bats, badgers, dormice, and reptiles. We maintain strong working relationships with Natural England, the Wildlife Trust, Natural Resources Wales, and Scottish Natural Heritage.

The role involves varied project work with a strong focus on renewable energy, infrastructure, residential schemes, and other commercial developments. Responsibilities include managing ecological projects commensurate with experience, assisting team leads with resource allocation and financial budgets, addressing client feedback, and ensuring effective communication.

You will produce and oversee ecological appraisals, reports, licence applications, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, EPS licences, and other related documents. Mentoring junior team members, carrying out or overseeing ecological surveys to required standards, and assisting with fee proposal preparation are also key aspects of the role.

SLR is a global leader in Sustainability Solutions with over 4000 employees across 6 regions in more than 125 countries. We offer a collaborative and supportive environment, competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits including pension, healthcare, travel and life insurance, and a structured career framework with regular reviews. Our flexible, agile, and hybrid working policies support work-life balance alongside 25 days annual leave plus flexible bank holidays.
