About the Role
Are you ready to join a team of flood risk specialists and shape the future of the Water Industry? Our Water team is seeking a passionate Senior Flood Modeller to join our dynamic and rapidly growing Water Business Line. This is your chance to deliver high-profile, influential projects across the UK and beyond, working at the heart of one of the UK’s most ambitious and connected northern engineering hubs. In this senior technical role, you will guide junior staff and proactively develop our offering to local authorities, water companies, and private and public sector clients.

At AECOM, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality flood modelling and hydrology projects. Under general supervision, you will:
- Develop and check hydraulic models using software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, Mike 11, Mike 21, HEC-RAS and ICM to assist the design of Flood Alleviation Schemes, deliver Flood Risk Assessments and conduct reservoir flood studies.
- Develop water quality models (physico-chemical, biological, bacterial, or chemical) using industry standard software such as MIKE, Delft3D, SIMCAT and/or ICM.
- Conceptualise and scope modelling approaches, considering risks and opportunities.
- Undertake and check hydrological assessments including Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2 and WINFAP.
- Lead and contribute to tenders ranging from innovative one-off projects to multimillion-pound framework contracts.
- Mentor team members to support their professional development.
- Build relationships with clients and collaborate across technical disciplines.
- Stay up-to-date with legislation and guidelines affecting our services.
- Use AECOM’s project management systems to deliver high-quality outputs on time and within budget.
- Work closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver fluvial, coastal, surface water or drainage flood risk management projects.

If you are passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality, join AECOM where we uplift communities and enhance lives. Become part of a dynamic Water business with around 700 experts across the UK and Ireland, collaborating on projects from concept to completion. Enjoy a flexible hybrid working model, career development opportunities, and a supportive, inclusive environment that values your contributions.
