About the Role

At Tetra Tech, you will join a high-performing flood risk and drainage team delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK for both private and public sectors. Projects range from £10k to £100m and cover sectors including defence, transport, local government, healthcare, education, commercial, industrial, and residential development. You will lead flood risk assessments, drainage strategies, modelling, environmental water assessments, and contribute to Environmental Impact Assessments. This role involves working independently from project inception through to delivery and close out, supporting project managers, managing low risk projects, and mentoring junior staff. Occasional travel and out-of-hours work may be required. Tetra Tech offers internal project management training, structured learning and development, mentoring, coaching, and CPD to support your professional growth.
Experience
- Proven experience delivering flood risk projects and assessments supporting planning applications
- Knowledge of UK flood risk policies such as NPPF, SPP, and TAN15
- Experience consulting and liaising with clients and stakeholders including LLFA, EA, and water companies
- Skilled in report writing and presenting to internal and external partners
- Experience developing drainage strategies, SuDS, and drainage solutions referencing local and national guidance (e.g. SuDS Manual)
- Experience with discharge of conditions for planning applications and Water Framework Directive assessments
- Knowledge of environmental, ecological, and geomorphological considerations in flood risk schemes
- Proficient in Micro Drainage/Info Drainage and IT systems such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
- Experience preparing fee proposals and assisting with large bids

Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) MICE or chartered with CIWEM, or working towards chartership with commitment to attain it
