About the Role
We are recruiting multiple Principal Civil Design Engineers (Water) with experience in wastewater and/or clean water networks to join our team supporting major long-term water industry frameworks across the UK. This includes a £100 million single-award framework with United Utilities focused on improving river health across the Northwest of England. As part of this 10-year framework, you will help drive programme optimisation, develop innovative solutions, and select preferred options based on best value, lowest carbon footprint, and cost efficiency. Our mission is to deliver exceptional water services that foster a resilient, eco-friendly, and thriving Northwest.
You will join a multidisciplinary team of engineers, modellers, and data analysts providing asset management and operational strategy development to water industry clients. Our portfolio includes several major water companies and prestigious AMP8 programmes leading into AMP9 and beyond, offering long-term career security and the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy.
As a Principal Civil Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in delivering capital projects, contributing to optioneering, outline, and detailed design across various frameworks. You will work on technically demanding wastewater infrastructure projects including treatment works, pumping stations, sewers, and pumping mains. Experience
- Proven experience in wastewater or water infrastructure design or project management
- Strong technical design expertise on multi-disciplinary projects
- Civil engineering experience including infrastructure developments, drainage, site layout, and multi-disciplinary design leadership
- Good understanding of CDM regulations and requirements
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, sharing knowledge and best practice
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with project teams, clients, and suppliers
- Experience in client relationship management and business growth contribution
- Motivated with strong influencing and people management skills to lead and support developing engineers

Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a relevant technical subject preferred
- Postgraduate qualifications are an advantage
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership
- Affiliation with a professional institution such as IET, InstMC, or CIWEM, or actively working towards membership and nearing application
