Hybrid – 2/3 days a week on-site or at a Thames Water office location, with flexibility to travel within London and the Thames Valley.

About the Role
The Senior Project Manager is a key leadership role within Thames Water projects, focusing on leading a team of project managers and directing major improvements to wastewater treatment works. You will be accountable for a portfolio of projects and personally lead a small number of complex above-ground/process projects from inception to completion. This involves guiding and developing a multi-disciplined team to ensure successful delivery to time, cost, and quality commitments.
You will play an active role in the project management community by establishing best practices, supporting the development of project managers and apprentices, and building relationships across Thames Water.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading a team of project managers to deliver a portfolio of projects successfully.
- Ensuring governance compliance and stakeholder engagement throughout project lifecycles.
- Supporting solution definition to meet project objectives and overseeing contract award processes.
- Preparing and supporting the development of clear, affordable project business cases that offer value for money.
- Developing project delivery strategies to manage risks and assumptions effectively and securing third-party consents timely.
- Promoting and sustaining Thames Water’s Health & Safety vision (zero incidents, zero harm, zero compromises) throughout project lifecycles.
- Managing and assuring contractor performance to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Contributing to continuous improvement within the Thames Valley Delivery team and achieving challenging targets.
- Commercially managing all contract matters to achieve optimal outcomes for Thames Water.

Experience
- Proven experience delivering a portfolio of complex projects up to £100m in value.
- Strong knowledge of contract management and negotiation.
- Demonstrated capability in risk-based and analytical decision-making.
- Experience leading health and safety performance to meet zero incident targets.
- Ability to manage multiple multi-million pound construction projects simultaneously.
- Excellent leadership and management skills across multi-disciplined teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and listening skills.
- Willingness to travel and work across multiple sites.

Qualifications
- Engineering or relevant degree with chartered status.
- Post-graduate qualification in business or project management.
Desirable
- Broad utility industry experience, ideally within the Water industry.
- Experience working within a regulated infrastructure environment.
