About the Role
Join AECOM's Electrification & Power team as a Senior Rail Traction Power / Substation Engineer, delivering traction power and substation projects across the UK with opportunities to support international projects. You will be responsible for technical delivery across key projects, ensuring designs are accurate, cost-effective, constructable and compliant with relevant codes and standards. Your work will span the full project lifecycle from feasibility studies and outline design through to detailed design and construction support. Operating at Independent Checker level, you will provide technical oversight, support the development of engineers within the team, and collaborate closely with project managers, clients and stakeholders. Key responsibilities include developing design documentation, undertaking independent technical checks, conducting site visits and surveys, and providing construction stage design support. A strong understanding of Health & Safety and CDM requirements is essential.
Experience
- Proven experience in traction power and high voltage substation design.
- Experience delivering projects across feasibility, outline and detailed design stages.
- Experience acting as CRE / Lead Engineer is advantageous; support and mentoring will be provided if prior CRE experience is not held.
- Strong understanding of relevant industry standards and design governance.
- Low voltage experience is desirable but not essential.
