Role Overview

We are recruiting on behalf of a UK-based renewable energy company for experienced Solar Installers to support domestic solar PV and battery storage installation projects across the UK.

This is a field-based role working on domestic properties, where you will be expected to install, test and commission solar PV and battery storage systems to a high standard. The employer is looking for experienced installers who can travel nationwide, work professionally in customers’ homes and deliver clean, safe and reliable installations.

The role will initially be offered on a subcontractor basis, giving the employer the opportunity to review the quality of installation work. For suitable candidates, there may be the opportunity to progress into a permanent full-time employed role.

Important Eligibility Information

• Candidates must have previous hands-on solar installation experience

• Candidates must be able to install, test and commission systems

• Candidates must have their own vehicle and tools

• Candidates must be willing and able to travel nationwide

• Candidates must hold Working at Height certification

• Electrical qualifications for battery and inverter installation are required

• A CSCS card would be an advantage

• Candidates must have the right to work in the UK

What You’ll Do

• Install Solar PV systems on domestic properties

• Install battery storage systems and inverters where required

• Test and commission completed systems

• Work safely at height and follow site safety requirements

• Use your own tools and equipment to complete installations

• Travel to different project locations across the UK

• Follow installation plans and project instructions

• Maintain a clean, safe and professional working environment

• Represent the company professionally when working in customers’ homes

• Complete work to a high standard, with strong attention to detail

• Previous experience installing Solar PV systems

• Experience installing battery storage systems and inverters

• Ability to test and commission completed systems

• Working at Height certification

• Electrical qualifications suitable for battery and inverter installation

• Own vehicle and tools

• Ability to travel nationwide for work

• Strong understanding of health and safety when working on roofs and in domestic properties

• Reliable, professional and able to work to project deadlines

• Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach

Strongly Preferred

• Level 2 Solar Roofing qualification

• CSCS card

• Experience working on domestic retrofit or renewable energy projects

• Experience completing full installations from start to finish

• High-quality finish and tidy workmanship

Pay: Day rate or weekly rate, dependent on experience and project scope. As a guide, the employer has indicated that the full-time employed equivalent would usually be around £40,000 per year, with salary expectations open to discussion

Hours: Project dependent

Location: Nationwide travel required

Start Date: ASAP, although candidates with notice periods will still be considered

Job Type: Subcontractor basis initially, with potential to move into a permanent full-time employed role
