About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager, you will ensure compliance with Thames Water supply chain objectives and enhance value by supporting the business to make informed decisions on sourcing requirements from in-scope spend areas. You will play an integral role working with Commercial and Procurement colleagues and the wider business to ensure the capital programme is delivered on time and within budget. Thames Water’s supply chain strategy focuses on collaboration to identify innovative and best practice solutions that meet business objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading strategy development for specific projects allocated by the Capital Procurement Business Partner, aligned with category strategies
- Managing and prioritising multiple sourcing initiatives using agile project delivery and problem-solving skills
- Leading multi-disciplinary teams through the procurement process with full internal stakeholder engagement, following Thames Water sourcing methodology
- Ensuring audit trails, documentation, and supplier information exchanges are robust, confidential, and compliant with Procurement and Data Protection Regulations
- Collaborating with stakeholders on contract launch responsibilities and preparing for handover to Contract Management for in-life management
- Creating compelling, well-structured, and accurate reports, documents, and presentations for all business levels internally and externally
- Developing effective relationships with the supply market to generate positive and value-driven outcomes
- Providing timely and accurate reporting on sourcing projects using available tools
- Supporting the development of best practices across the Commercial lifecycle by regularly reviewing and updating processes
- Operating information systems to maintain accurate and secure records
- Ensuring Procurement Regulations and rules are observed during sourcing initiatives
Experience
- Strategic sourcing experience
- Managing multi-disciplinary project teams
- Engaging with internal stakeholders and the supply chain
- Proven track record in delivering against stretching targets
- Ability to manage external relationships and negotiate with suppliers
- Experience in leading supply chain project delivery
- Demonstrated delivery of procurement value for money, cost efficiency, and procurement innovation
About you
- Efficiently manage spend and information gathering processes by working with business stakeholders, suppliers, and third parties
- Skilled in supplier negotiations and dispute resolution
- Ability to interpret forms of contract such as IchemE/NEC
- Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) qualification is desirable
Qualifications
- MCIPS qualification preferred but not essential; relevant experience and skills are highly valued
