About the Role
Ricardo Energy & Environment, a member of WSP, is a global strategic, environmental, and engineering consulting company with over 100 years of engineering excellence. We employ close to 3,000 people across more than 20 countries, delivering innovative, cross-sector sustainable solutions. Our vision is to create a safe and sustainable world.
We are seeking a Graduate Sustainability Consultant to join our Energy Infrastructure Transition team. This role is ideal for new graduates, Masters or PhD holders, those starting their career, changing to a purpose-driven role, or returning from a break. You will gain valuable experience in sustainability consultancy across areas such as net zero, ESG, circular economy, life cycle assessment (LCA), waste and resource management, heat decarbonisation, power, and clean fuels.
From day one, you will support senior consultants in delivering sustainability projects, contributing to research, analysis, and client engagement. You will develop your understanding of the sustainability landscape including technical, policy, commercial, and regulatory aspects. Your work will include reviewing data and literature, developing models, tools or frameworks, and preparing reports and presentations. You will manage your own tasks and collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure high-quality project outputs.
Examples of projects you may be involved in include supporting organisations to develop net zero strategies, conducting LCAs, assisting local authorities with waste and resource management planning, informing circular economy policy development, supporting ESG strategy and reporting, and contributing to heat decarbonisation plans for buildings and industrial sites.
We offer a welcoming and inclusive workplace culture that values diversity and encourages you to use your passion and expertise to make a positive impact. Wellbeing and flexible working are core to our culture, supporting you to flourish and achieve your full potential.
Experience
Suitable for new graduates or those at the start of their career. Previous internship, academic or project experience related to sustainability or consultancy is desirable but not essential.
About you
Genuine interest in sustainability with a broad understanding of topics such as net zero, circular economy, waste and resource management, ESG, and heat decarbonisation. Strong analytical, research, and communication skills. Proactive, organised, and committed to producing high-quality work. Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines. Creative problem-solving skills and ability to break down complex research questions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, geography, environmental engineering, natural sciences, economics, or a related discipline.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
