About the Role
Join an award-winning sustainability team and help shape a more sustainable built environment. As a Sustainability Consultant at Tetra Tech, you will support the delivery of sustainability certifications and consultancy services across a diverse portfolio of projects. Working alongside experienced professionals, you will contribute to BREEAM, WELL, and Home Quality Mark (HQM) assessments, helping clients improve environmental performance, achieve ambitious ESG objectives, and create healthier, more sustainable buildings. This role is ideal for early-career sustainability professionals seeking to develop technical expertise and gain exposure to a broad range of projects within a leading multidisciplinary consultancy.

You will receive mentoring and support from senior colleagues while working on services including BREEAM assessments, sustainability statements, Whole Life Carbon Assessments, daylight analysis, overheating assessments, and circular economy strategies. Collaborating with multidisciplinary design teams, clients, and technical specialists, you will help deliver positive sustainability outcomes across a wide range of developments.

From day one, you will contribute to successful project delivery by supporting sustainability assessments, evidence reviews, technical reporting, and client deliverables. As your experience grows, you will take ownership of project elements, develop specialist expertise, and build confidence in client-facing activities. The role offers a structured pathway for progression, technical development, and professional accreditation, with opportunities to work on nationally significant projects and access ongoing professional development including support towards Chartered status and industry accreditations.

Tetra Tech offers a flexible and collaborative working environment combining office, home, and site-based working. Regular office attendance is expected to maintain strong team connections and client service standards. The role includes travel to client sites, project meetings, and inspections across the UK. Flexible working options are actively supported to help balance professional responsibilities with personal wellbeing.

Requirements

Experience
Some exposure to sustainability principles within the built environment and building certification schemes such as BREEAM is desirable. Experience supporting sustainability assessments or working with certification schemes is advantageous but not essential. Exposure to WELL or HQM assessments, Whole Life Carbon Assessments, carbon assessment software, Net Zero strategies, or circular economy principles would be beneficial. We welcome applications from candidates who have developed relevant sustainability knowledge through education, placements, internships, or graduate employment.

About you
You are an early-career sustainability professional eager to develop technical expertise and consultancy skills. You possess strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality. You are motivated to stay up to date with emerging sustainability trends, legislation, and best practice. You enjoy working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and are keen to contribute to positive environmental and social outcomes.

Qualifications
You hold a degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Architecture, Climate Change, or a related discipline. You may be a graduate with some relevant industry experience within sustainability, environmental, or built environment consultancy roles. Tetra Tech is committed to supporting your professional development and helping you build technical expertise and industry accreditations.
