About the Role
We have a great opportunity for a Thermal Hydrolysis Plant (THP) Technician to join the thermal hydrolysis process team at Chertsey Sewage Treatment Works. This role is key to the site’s day-to-day operation and plays a crucial part in maximising green power generation using THP, Combined Heat and Power (CHP), and Boiler plant on site. Your responsibilities will include gathering samples and carrying out laboratory analysis, performing visual inspections of key areas, checking and calibrating in-line monitors, and monitoring, interpreting, collating, and reporting analysis data to ensure correct process operation and compliance with statutory and regulatory Thames Water requirements. You will operate plant and equipment to ensure continuous operation of THP and associated plants, take deliveries, and undertake safety, security, and housekeeping checks. You will also take personal responsibility for your own health and safety and that of your colleagues.

Requirements

Experience
Confidence, flexibility, initiative, problem-solving skills, and ability to work with your hands are essential. Knowledge of process industry plant such as pumps, centrifuges, and boilers, including combustion, steam generation, and heat transfer, is advantageous but not required. Previous SCADA experience is beneficial but not essential as full training will be provided.

About you
You should be willing and eager to learn, flexible, and able to work well both independently and as part of a team. Basic IT proficiency for operational tasks and record-keeping is required. A full, valid UK driving licence is essential to travel across Thames Water sites.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required; however, full training will be provided for BOAS, permit to work, forklift operation, chemical delivery, working at height, overhead crane operation, and process shadowing.
