About the Role
As the UK’s largest water company, Thames Water is embarking on a multiyear Finance and Commercial transformation programme to enhance how the function is organised, the systems used, processes in place, and data relied upon. The aim is to develop “FTSE Fit” capabilities across people, processes, systems, and data to effectively support a business of this scale.
The Transformation Workstream Analyst will collaborate closely with Workstream Leads, subject matter experts, business stakeholders, and delivery partners to analyse business challenges, develop recommendations, coordinate delivery activities, and support the successful implementation of change. Analysts may support multiple workstreams simultaneously, depending on programme priorities and business needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting current-state assessments across processes, operating models, controls, systems, data, and organisational structures
- Gathering, structuring, and documenting information, requirements, assumptions, and recommendations from workshops, interviews, and stakeholder engagement
- Developing high-quality workstream artefacts such as presentations, reports, decision papers, and supporting analysis
- Assisting in the design and development of future-state processes, operating models, governance arrangements, and business solutions
- Analysing qualitative and quantitative information to identify trends, issues, opportunities, and improvement areas
- Supporting root cause analysis and problem-solving activities
- Assessing business impacts, risks, dependencies, and implementation considerations
- Presenting complex information clearly to operational and senior stakeholders
- Supporting workstream planning, milestone tracking, and delivery activities
- Maintaining action, risk, issue, assumption, and dependency logs with proactive mitigation and escalation
- Preparing materials for governance forums, workshops, and stakeholder meetings
- Tracking progress against deliverables and supporting benefits realisation
- Providing analytical support to Workstream Leads and programme governance forums
- Building effective working relationships with stakeholders and facilitating workshops and interviews
- Collaborating across multiple transformation workstreams to manage interdependencies
- Supporting change impact assessments, readiness plans, stakeholder engagement, communication, and adoption activities
- Supporting data gathering, validation, and analysis to develop metrics, reporting, and insights
- Ensuring analysis and reporting outputs are accurate, complete, and fit for purpose
- Collaborating with business and technical teams to support informed decision-making

Experience
- In-depth post-qualification experience in transformation, consulting, programme delivery, business improvement, or finance transformation
- Producing high-quality presentations, reports, and structured documentation
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Gathering, analysing, and synthesising information from multiple sources
- Facilitating workshops and engaging with stakeholders at various organisational levels
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
About you
- Qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA accountant, or equivalent relevant experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to tailor messages for different audiences
- Strong attention to detail, prioritisation, and time management skills
- Resilient under pressure and comfortable working in matrix teams
- Able to liaise effectively with senior stakeholders
Desirable
- Experience working on finance transformation programmes
- Familiarity with reporting and visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI), process mapping tools (e.g. Visio), and workshop facilitation techniques
- Understanding of finance processes, controls, and governance (e.g. R2R, P2P, O2C, FP&A)
- Experience supporting organisational change initiatives
- Experience working alongside consulting firms or third-party delivery partners
- Exposure to ERP, EPM, reporting, or technology-enabled transformation programmes
- Workshop facilitation experience
