About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark projects and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the industry. We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Utilities Engineer to join our Roads team based in London & South East. You will work alongside professionals ranging from early career engineers to experienced project managers, contributing to the improvement of local and strategic road networks.
Your role will involve delivering utility connections, diversions, and utility infrastructure strategies for a variety of schemes across the UK. You will prepare designs and specifications in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), support the development of Graduate Engineers and Apprentices, produce technical reports, and undertake site visits to inform designs. You will also work closely with Project and Technical Delivery teams to measure carbon on projects using the WSP Future Ready programme.
Health & Safety, Environmental Legislation compliance, and quality assurance are key aspects of this role. You will be part of a high-performing, supportive team dedicated to maintaining and improving the quality of engineering outputs.
Experience
- Delivering utility connections, diversions, and infrastructure strategies for small to large schemes in the UK
- Knowledge of Electricity, Gas, Water, and Telecommunications network requirements
- Experience with Multi-utility / iDNO / ICP offerings is beneficial
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and organise time effectively
- Proficiency in AutoCAD / Civils 3D or similar software with 2D drawing and 3D modelling capabilities
- Experience preparing designs in accordance with DMRB, TSRGD, Traffic Signs Manual, and Local Transport Notes
- Familiarity with BIM standards, protocols, and environments such as ProjectWise and Autodesk Forma
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills
- Knowledge of CAD QA/QC processes and collaborative digital delivery
- Additional skills in Bentley software (OpenRoads Designer/MicroStation) and digital automation tools (Python, C++, Dynamo) are advantageous

Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Highways design experience aligned with DMRB standards
- Working towards or attained professional qualifications such as IEng
