About the Role
Join WSP as a Senior Consultant within our Land Practice, where agricultural, soil, and landscape management expertise combines with catchment management capabilities. You will lead and deliver consultancy projects focused on sustainable catchment management, developing evidence-based solutions that balance farming practices with land use, water, and environmental outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative team driving growth and innovation in catchment management.
Your work will integrate Regenerative Agriculture, land use change, farming advisory services, and sustainable water management to support impactful change across catchments. You will help shape new business opportunities, strengthen core capabilities, and engage with key stakeholders across farming, water, regulatory, and environmental sectors.
Key responsibilities include managing and delivering projects for clients such as governments, utility companies, and private sector organisations. Projects may involve catchment conceptualisation, data gathering, risk assessment, climate data processing, identifying adaptation and mitigation options, supporting farming advisory initiatives, embedding catchment plans into policies and strategies, business development, workshop facilitation, and managing a small team of technical experts.
Experience
- Proven experience in catchment management for water quality and/or water resources improvements.
- Knowledge of nature-based solutions and catchment interventions to reduce pollution and improve water management.
- Understanding of agricultural, land, and environmental policy and their interaction with water policy, regulation, and planning.
- Familiarity with farming systems and the environmental impacts of agricultural production.
- Strong numeracy skills with attention to detail and data scrutiny.
- Demonstrated client relationship management and project delivery skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills tailored to diverse audiences including scientists, policymakers, and the public.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (2.1 or above), Master’s or PhD in a relevant scientific subject.
Desirable Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including advanced functions like VLOOKUP, INDEX MATCH) and/or Python for data analysis.
- Experience with geospatial analysis tools such as QGIS or ArcMap.
- Familiarity with environmental models/tools for water quality or resource improvement (e.g., SCIMAP, FarmScoper, SAGIS).
- Consultancy experience including proposal writing, project management, and client engagement.
