About the Role
JLL is seeking a resolute and safety-conscious Waste Operative to join our waste management team. This vital role supports the efficient collection, segregation, and disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams across site operations. Working closely with the Waste Team Leader and on-site Supervisor, you will help maintain the highest standards of waste management, environmental compliance, and workplace safety.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Safe collection and transportation of various waste streams from multiple site locations, including hazardous materials such as IBCs and drums, ensuring correct segregation and handling procedures.
- Operating a flatbed vehicle to transport waste materials to the designated waste yard safely and efficiently, complying with site traffic management and transport regulations.
- Preparing waste materials within the waste yard for collection by licensed contractors, including organizing, labelling, staging waste according to regulatory requirements and contractor specifications, and ensuring accurate documentation.
- Operating a counterbalance forklift truck to move, stack, and organize waste containers and materials, performing daily equipment checks and ensuring safe operation.
- Collaborating effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and contractors to ensure smooth operations and timely waste removal, supporting team objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintaining strict adherence to health and safety protocols, following site-specific procedures for hazardous materials handling, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, and promptly reporting any incidents, near-misses, or equipment defects.

Experience
Previous experience handling both hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams is highly desirable. Familiarity with waste segregation principles, environmental regulations, and safe handling procedures is advantageous. Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or facilities management environments is beneficial.
About you
You must be safety-focused with strong diligence to ensure compliance with all operational procedures. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential. Physical fitness is required due to manual handling, working outdoors in various weather conditions, and maintaining alertness during early morning starts. Dependability and punctuality for the fixed shift pattern are essential.
Qualifications
A full UK driving licence is essential as you will be driving site vehicles daily. A valid counterbalance forklift truck licence is required. Both licences must be current and free from restrictions preventing operation of required vehicles and equipment.
