Hours
38 Hours Monday to Friday, plus inclusion on a six-week rotating standby rota which includes one weekend in six and one week of 24-hour standby. Additional payment applies for standby duties.

Salary
Up to £35,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

About the Role
We are seeking a Waste Water Engineer to join our South London Field Operations team, covering South London, parts of Surrey, and west Kent. You will become a local expert, investigating and resolving defects within the sewerage network while ensuring compliance with all relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Put the customer at the heart of your work by engaging with customers and stakeholders, taking ownership of their concerns, and delivering swift resolutions.
- Provide technical expertise and raise repair or maintenance work requests with support from Field Operations Specialists.
- Work in accordance with internal and external processes, including asset management standards, health and safety legislation, and environmental regulations.
- Attend reactive emergencies such as sewer flooding or pollution incidents, prioritising and mitigating defects safely and efficiently.
- Supervise repair and maintenance contractors.
- Complete ancillary inspections on assets including access covers, balancing ponds, outfalls, vent pipes, and valves.
- Collaborate with the Asset Damage Investigator to gather evidence of third-party damage.
- Attend meetings with external stakeholders to proactively explain work and resolve potential concerns.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience in the wastewater industry or a strong interest demonstrated at interview.
Knowledge of pipe-laying and pipeline construction is essential.
Good IT skills are required.

Proactive attitude with strong problem-solving abilities.
Flexible approach to working and ability to prioritise effectively in a reactive environment.
Full driving licence is essential.

Qualifications
An engineering background is highly desirable.
Relevant technical qualifications are desirable but not essential.
Working knowledge of the sewer network, especially regarding Health & Safety, is advantageous.
