About the Role
Join Gaia Talent's environmental team as an Aquatic Ecologist, conducting freshwater and coastal surveys and assessments. You will be responsible for carrying out freshwater ecology surveys including fish, macroinvertebrates, and water quality monitoring. Support Water Framework Directive (WFD) assessments and contribute to aquatic sections of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs). Assist with licence applications such as Section 40 and IFI permits. Experience
2–5 years of experience in aquatic ecology consultancy. Proven field experience with electrofishing, kick sampling, or similar survey techniques. Familiarity with Irish aquatic ecosystems and species is essential.
About you
Motivated and detail-oriented ecologist with strong practical skills in freshwater and coastal environments. Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Flexible and adaptable to varied fieldwork conditions across Ireland.
Qualifications
Degree in aquatic ecology, marine biology, or a related discipline. Full, clean Irish or EU driving licence is required.
