About the Role
We are recruiting for an Asset Planner to cover a year’s maternity contract from January 2027 to January 2028. This role is accountable for creating and maintaining asset plans for each site and water supply system for the current AMP and future planning periods. The primary aim is to build and maintain comprehensive plans containing a prioritised and sequenced list of projects and interventions on-site and across the wider system or catchment, clearly communicating stage gate timelines required from project deliverers.
The site and system-based plans will focus on the issues and themes each area faces and the business plan objectives to be achieved in the next five years. This includes improving operational performance, resilience, asset health, and new environmental and regulatory improvements while considering community and stakeholder requirements. Plans must align with strategic themes and be based on strategic plans.
Key responsibilities include owning the plan for your sites and systems and staying involved as plans are delivered through the sponsorship model; leading the development of integrated site plans by facilitating cross-functional collaboration, identifying interdependencies, and determining optimal sequencing of interventions; continuously updating and maintaining comprehensive site and system-level plans; gathering long-term strategic input from Asset Strategy to inform Price Review 29 planning; developing and prioritising projects for current and future 5-yearly Asset Management Periods (AMPs); creating and managing system-wide plans across abstraction, treatment, storage, pumping, and sludge assets; delivering on capital maintenance plans and efficiently spending in relation to asset health and Outcome Delivery Incentives; monitoring and evaluating asset condition, maintenance standards, and anticipated failure rates; and supporting external engagement activities to help stakeholders understand and align with strategic plans.
Experience
Knowledge of asset management and planning/forecasting is essential. Analytical skills with confidence in working with numbers and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and simply are required. A good understanding of risk management is important. Experience in building strong relationships across teams and external stakeholders is necessary.
Additional desirable experience includes knowledge of water and wastewater systems and external impacts, professional membership of an engineering, environmental or asset management organisation, and understanding of regulatory processes such as price reviews or annual returns.
About you
You should be a confident communicator who can influence across all levels and consider different views. You must be proactive and able to work flexibly across multiple workstreams, responding to changes in focus.
Qualifications
Specific qualifications are not detailed, but professional membership of relevant organisations is advantageous.
