About the Role
Protect lives and landscapes with AECOM by delivering expert flood risk solutions that safeguard communities and infrastructure. Join our growing Water team as an Associate Flood Forecasting Modeller, playing a senior technical role leading teams to deliver real-time flood forecasting projects and expanding services with the Environment Agency and beyond. While your primary focus will be flood forecasting, you will also have opportunities to work on wider hydrology and non-real-time modelling projects.
Key responsibilities include producing and reviewing Flood Forecasting Inception Stage Reports, assessing model and hydrometric data quality, developing and calibrating flood forecasting models such as PDM and Flood Modeller, and carrying out hydrological analysis using tools like Flood Modeller, ICM, HEC-RAS, MIKE 11, and FEH methods. You will produce high-quality technical reports, lead tenders for key clients, mentor team members, build strong client relationships, and stay current with relevant legislation and guidelines. Using AECOM’s project management systems, you will deliver high-quality outputs on time and within budget.
Become part of a dynamic Water business with around 700 experts across the UK and Ireland, collaborating with top-tier engineers and consultants on projects ranging from small initiatives to large-scale ventures from concept to completion. Thrive in an inclusive, forward-thinking environment with access to career development, technical networks, AECOM University, volunteering days, and a flexible hybrid working model that supports work-life balance. We welcome discussions on part-time or flexible working arrangements to suit your lifestyle.
Join a global team driven by a common purpose to deliver a better world through innovative and sustainable solutions in the water industry.
