About the Role
Protect lives and landscapes with AECOM by delivering expert flood risk solutions that safeguard communities and infrastructure. Join our growing Water team as an Associate Flood Forecasting Modeller and play a senior technical role leading teams to deliver real-time flood forecasting projects. You will help expand our services with the Environment Agency and beyond, while also working on wider hydrology and non-real-time modelling projects.
Your responsibilities will include producing and reviewing Flood Forecasting Inception Stage Reports, assessing the quality of existing models and hydrometric data, developing, calibrating and checking flood forecasting models such as PDM and Flood Modeller, and carrying out hydrological analysis using tools like Flood Modeller, ICM, HEC-RAS, MIKE 11, and FEH methods. You will produce and review high-quality technical reports documenting model builds and uncertainties, lead and contribute to tenders, mentor team members, and build strong client relationships.
Become part of a dynamic Water business with around 700 experts across the UK and Ireland, collaborating with top-tier engineers and consultants on projects ranging from small initiatives to large-scale ventures from concept to completion. At AECOM, you will thrive in an inclusive and forward-thinking environment with access to career development, technical networks, AECOM University, volunteering days, and a flexible hybrid working model to support your work-life balance. We welcome discussions on part-time or flexible working arrangements to suit your needs.

Proven ability in applying and calibrating hydrological models such as Muskingum-Cunge and Probability Distribution Model. Excellent analytical skills with experience processing and analysing hydrometric data including gauge rating reviews.
About you
Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a dynamic, deadline-driven team. Strong commitment, willingness to learn, and a desire to contribute to innovative flood risk solutions. Excellent communication skills to mentor colleagues and build client relationships.
