About the Role
Join AECOM’s dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as an Associate Flood Risk Consultant within the Regulations and Development sector. You will technically lead and manage the production of flood risk consenting related documents for major clients. Working from one of our rapidly growing UK offices, you will benefit from a flexible hybrid working model that supports work-life balance. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and verifying the production of flood risk assessments, strategic flood risk assessments, flood risk activity permits, Section 19 reports, and water resource chapters of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs).
- Providing expert input into tenders for complex, high-profile projects including nationally significant infrastructure projects.
- Building strong relationships with clients and collaborating across technical disciplines to deliver a wide range of fluvial, coastal, surface water, or drainage flood risk management projects.
- Staying current with legislation and guidelines affecting flood risk services and using AECOM’s project management systems to deliver high-quality outputs on time and within budget.
- Mentoring team members to support their professional growth.

Experience
- Significant experience in technically leading teams producing flood risk assessments and/or flood risk activity permits.
- Strong project management skills, with knowledge of NEC contract principles.
- Experience and understanding of hydraulic modelling as evidence for flood risk assessments and activity permits.
- Experience with FCERM appraisal, water cycle studies, and Water Framework Directive assessments is beneficial but not essential.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Professional chartered membership of CIWEM or ICE.
