About the Role
The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project involves the planning, design and construction of approximately 320km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water’s region. The SPA Alliance is also responsible for future interconnector pipelines, adding a further 260km of strategic pipelines and infrastructure.
As a Civil Engineer, you will provide innovative designs that deliver value for money while acting as a proactive problem solver by applying sound engineering principles. You will assist in reviewing and preparing scopes of work, methodologies, programmes, and resource estimates for the design stage and provide design support during construction.
This is a full-time fixed-term position expected to last until May 2027, with potential for extension. You will work closely with various teams including Solutions, Production, Delivery, GI, Utilities, Environmental, Temporary Works design, Supply Chain Designers, Offshore Designers, SPA Planners, and Delivery Teams.
You will embrace digital transformation throughout design and support continuous improvement in Health & Safety, ensuring consistent standards are maintained.

Experience
- Civil design experience in the water industry
- Experience working on projects in a Design & Build environment
- Ability to take ownership and deliver design activities within a programme
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including GI, Utilities, Environmental, and Temporary Works design

Qualifications
- Essential: Civil Engineering degree or equivalent
- Working towards professional status with a relevant institution such as the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE)
- Desirable: Additional technical qualifications or training
- Desirable: Safety passport or similar certification
