About the Role
Join Forestry England, a passionate team dedicated to growing the nation’s forests and making a positive environmental impact. As a Civil Engineer within the Nature Recovery Team, you will support the delivery of Yorkshire Forest District’s Biodiversity and Resilience Programmes by planning, specifying, managing, and delivering civil engineering maintenance and construction projects through external contractors. Projects vary from forest roads, bridges, access tracks to railway crossings, ensuring no two days are the same. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet legal, health and safety, environmental, and policy obligations. This fixed-term appointment runs until March 2029, with the possibility of extension or permanency. You will also be required to respond to site call outs during working hours.

About Forestry England
We live and breathe forests, creating amazing places for people and wildlife. Our bold ambitions focus on nature recovery, demonstrated through initiatives like the White-tailed eagle reintroduction and Nightjar conservation. We are committed to restoring ancient woodlands and open habitats, making England’s forests the most valuable places for wildlife to thrive.

Benefits
Forestry England contributes an average of 28.97% towards your pension through the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension Scheme. Access to the STaR employee benefits scheme offers discounts on shopping, holidays, gym memberships, and more. Free parking at Forestry England sites and free entry to National Arboretums at Westonbirt and Bedgebury are included.
