As a Commercial Manager within our Environment Business Unit, you will provide leadership and expertise to ensure bid submissions and projects are commercially robust and aligned with business plan performance metrics. Reporting to the Assistant Commercial Director, Environment, you will focus on contract and commercial matters critical to business success, building strong client and supplier relationships and enhancing AECOM’s reputation.

Your responsibilities will include providing commercial leadership across the project lifecycle, offering governance and strategic advice to bid teams, and supporting legal functions. You will mentor junior colleagues, lead contractual negotiations, support business improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with Delegations of Authority. Additionally, you will deliver commercial training and take an active leadership role in Safety, Quality, and Ethics.

Requirements

Experience
- Suitable post-qualification experience in delivery, legal, commercial, or finance roles within the Built Environment or Construction industry.
- Detailed knowledge of construction industry contract suites including JCT, Government Frameworks, FIDIC, NEC PSC/ECC.
- Experience drafting and negotiating bespoke project-specific agreements.
- Pre-contract procurement and commercial management experience.
- Strong understanding of risk mitigation procedures and solution-focused approach.
- Commercial acumen with strong business analysis skills and ability to interpret financial and commercial data.
- Familiarity with pricing strategies, cross-border risks, and mitigations.
- Experience in both non-contentious drafting/negotiation and dispute avoidance/resolution.

Qualifications
- Degree qualified in business, finance, law, engineering or related discipline (essential).
- Postgraduate business qualifications highly advantageous.
- Professional status in project management, engineering, surveying or law (e.g. ACCA, ACMA, CPA, MRICS, Law Society) preferred.
- Ability to hold and maintain UK government Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance; Security Check (SC) clearance preferred for Defence/Nuclear sector work.
