About the Role
Costain are working with Thames Water on a variety of water and wastewater projects and have fantastic opportunities for individuals to join our growing AMP8 delivery team, working predominantly across the Thames Valley and Thames South regions. Projects range from smaller capital maintenance to large civil new build schemes. We have an exciting opportunity for a Commissioning Engineer (MEICA) to join our Thames Water Framework.

In this role, you will oversee commissioning and systems integration activities across the project lifecycle, configure and calibrate analytical equipment, and integrate with monitoring systems. You will provide progress and status reporting to the Core Management Team, review and approve RAMS for commissioning activities, and supervise subcontractor installations ensuring compliance with quality standards and ITPs.

You will manage installation activities, produce documentation for project close-out, lead Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT) in line with ITPs, coordinate commissioning plans, and ensure completion of all associated documentation. Additionally, you will deliver training to operations teams on new process plant and equipment and act as front-line supervisor during commissioning and installation phases.

The role requires ensuring safe, compliant, and timely delivery of commissioning activities. You will undertake either an electrical AP or mechanical AP role subject to assessment and training, and a front-line supervisor role subject to assessment and training.

Experience
Experience working with a main contractor on Water and Wastewater Process Engineering projects is essential. Proven skills on installation and commissioning projects through to handover are required. Knowledge of commissioning and installation processes of electrical and mechanical contractors is important. Proven experience preferably in a commissioning role within the Water Industry is highly desirable.

Knowledge of Standards, Safety Rules, and Statutory Legislation relevant to the projects is required. Ability to lead site teams when required and demonstrate value engineering solutions is expected.

About you
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment are essential, along with the ability to self-manage. You should be able to challenge processes constructively and deliver value engineering solutions. A proactive and safety-focused approach is required.

Qualifications
HNC / Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering discipline or engineering apprenticeship & NVQ with experience in a multi-discipline environment. Professional registration and membership is an advantage.

Mandatory qualifications include ECS (CSCS) card, Water Hygiene card, SSSTS or SMSTS, BS7671 18th Edition, and First Aid at Work. CompEx qualifications are preferred.
