About the Role
As an LGV/HGV Driver, you will undertake the removal of waste, bulky items and sweeper’s sacks from domestic and commercial premises and the highway. Waste may be loose or in bags, bins, wheeled bins, Paladin and Euro-bin containers or other containers. You will ensure containers are returned to the collection point with lids replaced and gates or doors closed. Any spillage of waste must be cleared at the time of collection to leave the site litter free. When entering premises, you must comply with site rules and Health & Safety procedures.
You will drive and operate any vehicle supplied by Veolia after receiving relevant training, complying with all road traffic legislation including parking restrictions, security and weight of loads. The company operates a zero tolerance policy on overweight vehicles.
At the start of each shift and before leaving the depot, you will ensure the vehicle is in good working condition, complete vehicle defect forms and report any damages to your foreman or manager. At the end of the shift, the tipper must be left empty and the cab clean and clear of litter, uniform and personal effects.
You will report locations of any fly-tipping, graffiti, fly posting, damaged or missing litter bins and waste containers. All completed work must be detailed accurately and legibly on your daily worksheet before submission to your foreman or manager.
You will perform duties efficiently to ensure maximum productivity and complete tasks to schedule, reporting any discrepancies immediately. Maintaining a courteous and professional relationship with members of the public, client staff and colleagues is essential.
Veolia offers 20 days annual leave, access to a people’s pension scheme, free physiotherapy service, discounts on groceries and retailers, and resources supporting physical, mental and financial health. You will have 24-hour access to a virtual GP for you and household family members, ongoing training and development opportunities, and employee financial wellbeing support including early access to earned pay, savings, budgeting, financial coaching and rewards.
