Salary
Up to £42,000 per annum depending on skills and experience, with potential to increase by £8,000-£10,000 per annum through standby rota payments and overtime after completion of essential training
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our team within the Cherwell area of the Thames Valley North Wastewater Operations Region. This role offers the opportunity to work within a close-knit, high-performing team committed to maintaining high standards across wastewater treatment sites. You will be responsible for ensuring all electrical equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably through both proactive and reactive maintenance techniques. Your duties will include investigating plant failures, diagnosing complex faults, carrying out repairs promptly to avoid process interruptions, and servicing or replacing assets. Equipment you will work on includes pumps, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves, penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives, and chemical handling and dosing equipment. You will support local maintenance teams with planned and breakdown maintenance, provide technical advice, update electrical drawings, monitor treatment processes via SCADA, and deliver training or support to technical trainees as required. All necessary PPE, tools, and a company van will be provided.
Experience
- Considerable experience in electrical and systems maintenance
- Experience maintaining, testing, installing, and fault diagnosing electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently
- Experience working with 3-phase electrical systems
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety policies and processes

Qualifications
- Time-served apprenticeship in an engineering sector or equivalent
- NVQ Level 3 or higher in electrical engineering
- Qualifications in BS7671 or 18th Edition electrical wiring regulations
- Full UK driving licence essential
