About the Role
This role seeks a self-motivated candidate to manage engineering projects end-to-end across Thames Water’s Sewage Treatment operational sites and estate. You will manage all aspects of CAPEX projects, including initial scoping, competitive tendering, contractor procurement, site setup and inductions, health and safety inspections, commissioning, training, and handover to operations teams. The internal job title for this role is ‘Project Engineer’ within the Capital Maintenance Project Team.

You will manage and deliver a portfolio of Mechanical, Electrical, and ICA projects, typically valued between £100,000 and £1 million each. You will be individually responsible for multiple live projects simultaneously, with additional projects in scoping and tendering phases. The role involves developing innovative and modern solutions to operational problems, improving site efficiency, and delivering value for money for customers.

You will work closely with operations teams and contractors to scope, define, and cost cost-effective, low-risk solutions. You will oversee a zero-compromise health and safety policy for all project personnel, including monthly audits. Construction oversight will be in line with in-house policies, wider industry standards, and full compliance with CDM regulations.

Collaboration with delivery partners and contractors is essential to ensure schemes are delivered on time. You will maintain compliance with Asset Standards, British & International Standards, and professional codes of conduct. Financial forecasting and reporting on the value of work done (VOWD) for all live projects will be part of your responsibilities.

Additional duties include drafting, vetting, and approving pre-construction information, project programs, risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), and construction phase plans (CPP). You will oversee commissioning, training, and handover of completed projects to operations teams, ensuring all completion documents such as test certificates, operation and maintenance manuals, health and safety files, and as-constructed drawings are available and handed over.

Benefits
26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with length of service (plus bank holidays). Contributory pension scheme (Defined Contribution) with a maximum of 12% employer contribution (2x employee contribution). Personal medical assessments available annually. Access to a wider benefits scheme including offers and wellbeing support.
