
Location
Isleworth, London with travel to multiple Thames Water sites across West London and Thames Valley. Base location within South West London. Travel required to various sites, with some journeys up to approximately 150-mile round trips. A full driving licence, access to a vehicle, and insurance for work travel are required. A monthly car allowance is provided.
Hours
Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.
Salary
Up to £55,000 per annum, including car allowance, depending on experience and skills.
About the Role
As a Fire Alarm Engineer, you will assist the Lead Project Engineer in delivering all aspects of fire alarm installations, including minor and major works. You will be responsible for reporting progress and ensuring the quality and standards of work before handover. This role involves site visits to assess contractors' work quality against electrical and fire standards (BS 5839 Pt 1), compiling reports with photographic evidence, advising and scoping works with contractors, and carrying out fire alarm risk assessments (HSP 12) upon request across Thames Water sites.
Additional responsibilities include scoping and writing specification documents, health and safety management for your project portfolio, assessing tenders, financial and programme management, providing technical assistance and communication to key stakeholders, and ensuring asset data is captured and updated at project completion.
In-house training will be provided to support progression towards a Project Engineer role, including undertaking all aspects of health and safety management for your projects.

Experience
- Experience within a commercial and/or technical role is essential.
- Strong installation knowledge including electrical standards (especially containment) and fire standards to BS 5839 Pt 1.
- Experience or training in fire alarm principles and standards.

Qualifications
- FIA BS 5839-1 Fundamental or equivalent certification in Fire Alarm principles and standards.
