
Location
Isleworth, London with travel to various Thames Water sites across West London and Thames Valley. Base location is South West London. Travel may include journeys up to approximately 150 miles round trip. A full driving licence, access to a vehicle, and insurance for work travel are required. A monthly car allowance is provided.
Hours
Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.
Salary
Up to £55,000 per annum, including car allowance, depending on experience and skills.
About the Role
As a Fire Alarm Engineer, you will assist the Lead Project Engineer in delivering all aspects of fire alarm installations, including minor and major works. Your key responsibility will be to report on the progress and quality of work before handover. You will carry out site visits to assess contractors' work against electrical and fire standards, particularly BS 5839 Pt 1, and compile detailed reports with photographic evidence. You will advise and scope works with contractors to resolve issues and carry out fire alarm risk assessments and requirements (HSP 12) across Thames Water sites.
Additional responsibilities include scoping and writing specification documents, health and safety management for your project portfolio, assessing tenders, financial and programme management, and providing technical assistance and communication to key stakeholders. You will ensure all asset data is captured and updated at project completion.
In-house training will be provided to support your progression towards a Project Engineer role, including undertaking all aspects of health and safety management. This role requires travel to multiple sites and the ability to work independently using your own initiative to deliver specified outputs.

Experience
Experience in a commercial and/or technical role is essential. Strong installation knowledge including electrical standards (especially containment) and fire standards to BS 5839 Pt 1 is required. Experience or training in fire alarm principles and standards is necessary.
About you
You must be able to work unsupervised and use your own initiative to deliver specified outputs. You should be motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects with strong communication skills. A full UK driving licence and access to your own transport are essential due to travel requirements.
Qualifications
FIA BS 5839-1 Fundamental or equivalent certification in fire alarm principles and standards is required. Relevant training or work experience in fire alarm installation and assessment is necessary.
