
Location
Enfield, London, with the flexibility to be based at any Thames Water site across the Thames Valley, Home Counties, and London area.
Hours
45 hours per week, Monday to Friday, including a standby rota with additional payment. Opportunities to earn overtime at time and a half or double rates.
Salary
Up to £54,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus overtime and standby payments.
About the Role
Join Thames Water’s waste treatment team as a Generator Field Service Engineer, responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and optimising a fleet of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) spark ignition biogas engines across multiple sites. You will carry out planned and unplanned maintenance, collaborate with CHP support staff and suppliers to ensure safe and efficient operations with minimal downtime, and complete accurate service records and reports. Your role includes identifying parts, lubricants, and waste requirements, demonstrating a zero-compromise attitude to health, safety, and well-being, and delivering excellent customer service. You will also share your skills and knowledge with team members through product training. Proficiency in operating engine/generator controls such as ComAp, DIA.NE, and TEM Evo is essential.
Experience
- Proven hands-on experience working with internal combustion engines and associated systems.
- In-depth knowledge of operation and maintenance of internal combustion engines.
- Ability to perform thorough, methodical diagnostics on engines, generators, and related systems.
- Experience with Natural/Bio/AD Gas engines, CHP, and gas systems is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications
