Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm plus standby rota payments and overtime opportunities, which can increase earning potential by up to £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Up to £45,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus company van, tools, and PPE provided.
About the Role
As a Mechanical & Electrical Technician within Thames Water's Clean Water Division, you will use your mechanical and electrical expertise to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment. You will work safely, efficiently, and effectively with minimum supervision to ensure all sites remain operational for the benefit of our customers. This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact by actively helping to reduce pollution from our sites.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Prioritising health, safety, and well-being by complying with Health and Safety at Work regulations and Thames Water’s guidelines.
- Undertaking reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms, fault finding, and escalating issues as necessary.
- Installing new plant and equipment in line with current standards and regulations.
- Recording work and asset information to improve business performance and identifying potential risks.
- Providing specialist technical advice and coaching, including supporting the apprenticeship programme.
- Delivering excellent customer experience by interacting professionally and respectfully with internal and external customers.
All necessary PPE, tools, and a company van will be provided when on duty and on call.
Experience
- Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical and electrical systems or holding NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering.
- Proven problem solver, able to identify issues and implement solutions or escalate appropriately.
- Experience providing technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.

Qualifications
- NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent qualifications preferred.
- Time-served apprenticeship in relevant mechanical/electrical discipline.
