About the Role
AtkinsRéalis is seeking a pro-active and enthusiastic Geo-Environmental Consultant to join our award-winning Contaminated Land & Hydrogeology team within the Sustainable Land and Resource Management Practice. You will be part of a leading group of contaminated land experts delivering innovative brownfield solutions to major UK infrastructure projects across transportation, energy, buildings and places, and water markets. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside industry leaders, contribute to high-profile UK and international projects, and develop your career in a supportive, collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.

Your responsibilities will include organisation, collation and assessment of desk-based information as part of Phase 1 Contaminated Land Desk Studies; design and supervision of Phase 2 site investigations including environmental and geo-environmental site investigation and monitoring scopes. The role involves regular site-based work such as contractor supervision, soil sampling and logging, environmental monitoring and sampling, and supporting others on site.

You will ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies including preparation of H&S Plans and managing safety on site. You will prepare and deliver factual and interpretative reporting, including digital data management, development of conceptual site models, qualitative and quantitative risk assessments for human health and the water environment, hydrogeological modelling, and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA). Additional duties include supporting remediation design, implementation and verification.

Continuous professional development is encouraged with support from the business to meet training needs. You will manage your own workload and support senior management to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality and client expectations.

Requirements

Experience
Relevant post-graduate experience ideally within a consultancy environment, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time, on budget, and to quality standards. Demonstrable understanding of land contamination and brownfield land issues including relevant codes of practice and industry standards. Experience in site-based work including soil and rock logging, soil/gas/vapour/leachate/groundwater and surface water monitoring and sampling. Experience supervising and managing contractors undertaking trial pitting and drilling activities on brownfield sites. Familiarity with Principal Contractor duties under CDM Regulations 2015. Experience working on safety critical sites such as nuclear or electricity infrastructure distribution/transmission sites is desirable but not essential as training can be provided. Additional skills in hydrogeological modelling, EIA, environmental permitting, waste and materials management are advantageous. Experience with geospatial data (GIS) using QGIS and/or ArcGIS is welcomed.

About you
A keen team player with good organisational skills and an appetite for outdoor work in all weather conditions alongside desk-based tasks. Enthusiastic, motivated, and eager to learn and make a difference. Willingness to travel and undertake site-based work across the UK.
