As a Principal Consultant in Flood Risk Management, you will play a vital role within our Water Management Consultancy practice, collaborating with clients and design teams across the UK. You will lead flood risk management projects in sectors such as Aviation, Defense, Energy, Cities & Development, Education, Rail, and Water.
Your responsibilities will include technical work and mentoring junior staff in data analysis, hydraulic modelling, hydrology, GIS, and technical reporting. You will ensure quality assurance by reviewing deliverables, developing and testing flood mitigation concepts, and managing junior resources. You will support project managers and directors by adhering to project procedures including financial and change control, actively progressing projects under your control.
Collaboration is key; you will work closely with environmental scientists, engineers, and planners to provide consistent client service while managing your own workload and overseeing others. You will also contribute to business development activities such as tendering and client engagement, developing scopes of service, costs, and resource plans.

Experience
- Proven experience delivering flood risk projects with a focus on hydraulic modelling.
- Extensive flood risk analysis experience for strategy, planning, development, or design.
- Proficient in 1D-2D modelling tools such as Infoworks ICM, Flood Modeller, TUFLOW/ESTRY.
- Skilled in GIS software including ArcGIS, MapInfo, or QGIS.
- Desirable experience with FEH hydrological assessment and UK hydrology.
- Experience in developing and leading technical teams.
- Experience managing your own workload and supervising others.
- Experience supporting junior staff through mentoring and training.
