About the Role
AECOM is a leading provider of professional and technical support to the water industry, local government and private developers. We are seeking a talented Graduate Process Engineer to join our dynamic water team in Cambridge. You will work on a challenging mix of water and wastewater engineering projects, gaining experience in primary and storm treatment processes, activated sludge, biological filtration, granular activated sludge systems, final settlement, package systems, membrane systems, sludge thickening, dewatering and disposal, odour control and modelling, clean water treatment and chemical dosing plants.
Your responsibilities will include undertaking process flow diagrams, mass balance calculations, and developing process engineering calculations such as sizing unit operations and design constraints. You will conduct surveys and assessments of existing processes and equipment, participate in feasibility and optioneering studies, and support technical meetings including HAZOP sessions. You will ensure all technical documentation complies with relevant design standards, legislation, and AECOM QA standards, while verifying engineering documents and providing timely deliverables.
Additionally, you will assist junior staff, provide process commissioning support to site teams when appropriate, and collaborate with engineers from other disciplines to deliver integrated solutions. An interest in emerging wastewater technologies and innovation is highly valued. You will also be expected to advocate and support AECOM’s corporate strategic values and principles.
Experience
An ambition to work towards Chartered Engineer status with IChemE or CIWEM. Experience in design and build projects is advantageous but not essential. Comfortable using Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Teams. Knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D design models such as Revit is a plus. Some commercial awareness and a willingness to learn are important.
About you
Excellent report writing, communication and teamwork skills. Analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and creative thinking. Willingness to travel for project needs. Ability to take direction and guidance with a positive attitude. A keen interest in municipal water and wastewater treatment, associated unit processes, and relevant design standards. Interest in functional safety and HAZOP studies.
Qualifications
