Due to business growth, we have a rare opportunity to join a small working team in our Preston workshop where all vehicles are emptied, washed, and prepared before entering the workshops. There is a strong focus on creating an excellent working environment.

Your role will involve maintaining our fleet, working with diverse vehicle technology and sophisticated ancillary equipment. With over 5,000 employees across 300 locations, SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK operates a fleet of more than 1,500 vehicles.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Carrying out service, maintenance, and repair of all types of vehicles and equipment
- Diagnosing and rectifying faults
- Preparing and carrying out MOTs
- Ensuring Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to

Overtime is available at x1.5 & x2 rates, plus a day in lieu for Bank Holidays. Full PPE is provided. Holiday entitlement starts at 4 weeks, increasing with length of service, plus 8 days Bank Holidays.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience and knowledge of repairing and maintaining heavy goods vehicles is essential. Experience within Municipal vehicle maintenance is desirable.

You are a skilled technician with a strong commitment to Health & Safety and quality workmanship. You are motivated to work within a supportive team environment and keen to develop your skills further.

Qualifications
NVQ level in Heavy Goods Vehicle maintenance or equivalent skills gained through experience is preferred. HGV licence class 1 or class 2 is an advantage but not essential, with opportunities to obtain licences available. Inspection training/IRTEC accreditation is advantageous but can be provided. Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics is a plus, with training available if required. You must be able to inspect vehicles to DVSA standards and above.
